Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP under the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she first gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks to the Internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound, as well as her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. On 21st of July 2015. Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole had her send her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team in the following year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. Then, in December of 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had been hired with Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his single Change in 2017 and also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. On November 9 she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then on November 13 two new singles, titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded together with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on November 16th. The track was released as a single on its own in February of 2019 to coincide with her debut album. On February 20, 2019 a music video was released to promote the song. It has already received more than three millions views on YouTube in its debut week. In December of 2018, she was part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
